Guapo XIV
Guapo XIV is a pure-bred, black Andalusian stallion with the best blood-lines of Spain. There's no doubt that Guapo XIV is a true original!

We can all agree on anything folks, but we all know that there is nothing more beautiful in this world than a black Andalusian stallion with long mane and tail. To find a black Andalusian is more difficult than any other color. But when you see one - you'll never forget it. I am one of the few lucky ones who was in the right place at the right time and got one for myself. If you see a 30-year old Western movie made in Spain (say, "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly", etc.) you'll see black Andalusians, how they used to look like before they started changing them for the North-European demands of horse conformation. Guapo is one of the few true originals left. He's got the size and the looks of an ancient black stallion and a better looking stallion I have never seen! He's pure Escalera - the most famous blood-line of Spain from his father - and his mother from the Yeguada Militar, the Spanish military breeding stables which is as good as anything you can get in Spain - or anywhere in the world, for that matter. Guapo's personality is positive and strong. His whole being says "I'm the best". He's temperamental but sweet. And like any true Andalusian, he's totally fearless. He loves it when I take him out riding at 3 AM. He never longs for the stable. The more challenging or dangerous the track, the more he wants it; But rides on him are always completely safe. If ever I fall off, he stops and waits for me (well, if a mare were around, I probably wouldn't count on it..!) He's a regular "cliff-hanger", he loves climbing but I do not. so I'm having him concentrate on breeding instead. He's started on this already and he's doing very well. He's currently covering the entire breeding stable of the renowned horse breeder Pepe Sanchez, and apart from that he's got many mares coming from other people. By early next year, we should see the results. Still, there were some results already. Already last year I wanted to start breeding him, so I got him to cover a brown mare of a certain local breeder of a rather "iffy" repute - I didn't know that then, though. When I got Guapo back, I was told that he was useless and that he couldn't make his mare pregnant. He wanted him to cover his other mares instead, which I said no to, of course. So it's actually quite funny that this horse breeder's brother told me a couple of weeks ago that the mare my stallion covered has had a beautiful black filly this year, so I guess having a black stallion isn't always easy. People try to take advantage of it if they can. |
