Ancio
The Beautiful Grey-White Andalusian Stallion - If horses could fly…

Ancio is a pure-bred, grey-white Andalusian stallion with the best blood-lines of Spain.

Let me tell you a story about the most amazing horse I have ever met.

This grey Andalusian stallion came into my life simply because he was so special and different. It started when I saw him the first time as a two-year-old colt.

He was in a pen with a group of other colts. When we walked in, he immediately started to follow me around - really close! He just wouldn't stop. After constantly following me around for nearly an hour, I told the horse-breeder I had to have him. I guess it's one of those cases where the horse buys the owner!

Anzio is the most positive, sensitive, obedient and intelligent horse I've ever met. He only has one problem, really. He craves constant attention and can be very jealous, sometimes to the point of hurting himself a little when banging on the door of his enclosure, to get my attention.

After a few months of this, to make him think about something else, I've decided to put him in the Spanish High School - the hardest dressage training there is. The idea worked out very well.
Antonio Conejo, one of Spain's highest rated horse-trainers and certainly the one with the most won prizes and awards, is extremely pleased with Anzio's progress. The only "problem" seems to be that Anzio is learning… too fast! Antonio suggested to me that with this pace of learning he should be able to play poker, count to ten and jump from airplanes within a year. All I can say is "I'm very proud of you Anzio".

After barely two weeks he already knows the basics of paso español, passat and "appollos". He continues to learn eagerly.

I believe very strongly in him as a breeding stallion. He's got great conformation, he's bigger and stronger than the average Andalusian and his exceptionally sweet temperament is of great importance for the future, which he would give his foals.

His blood-lines are pure Cartujano, Both his parents are from Lucas Cañisares who is one of the most important horse-breeders on the Spanish South coast today. He's known for being one of the few breeders in Spain. He knew how to preserve the original Andalusian race without folloiwng today's fashion of making them bigger, born with the typical German movements called extensions, which are very good for Olympics but in reality have nothing to do with a pure Andalusian. The Andalusian's biggest advantage were always his high, graceful movements that made him the most spectacular Royal horse in the world.

I have not yet used Anzio for breeding. I prefer to concentrate on his schooling first.

Anzio is 165 cm high, he is a grey-metallic color and in a couple of years he will become silver-white, the "Cartujano White" which only a pure Andalusian can be.

One more thing. Out of the hundreds of horses I've ridden in my life, Anzio is the fastest by far. He still hasn't met his match among any of the horses I know of down here, in the South of Spain.
